Students at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University prepare and share their Views on dating and their upcoming events for their romantic evenings on Valentine’s Day.

We’ve all been waiting for Valentine’s Day to arrive. We’ve been waiting for the day to come to make our moves on that one special person, who has caught our eye or we’ve already made that move and now we want to show them how much we care. When is the last time you went out on a date?

Some students feel that dating is hard while being in college. Others feel that dating is way to easy. This is determined by the definition you use for dating.

According to A&T student Shiquan Winslow, Block 43 Apartments will be hosting Valentine’s Day Mixer on February 13th at 3pm. I asked Shiquan how he felt about dating?

Shiquan Winslow- Marketing Major

Most students are afraid to jump out there and mingle, I won’t be that student this year. I’m searching for my queen.”- Shiquan Winslow

Winslow has made it very clear to me that he wants a traditional relationship. He is not interested in dating for the moment. He plans to make the next relationship he is a long term relationship.

According to campusexplorer.com 63 percent of women in college expect to meet their spouses. According to theatlantic.com 83 percent of women in college prefer traditional relationships. In the article “Long Distance Relationship Statistics May Surprise You” Kim P states 7 million couples are in long-distance relationships with college being one of the places long-distance relationships form.

The information presented shows students how serious most women in college take relationships. Actively dating while in college is healthy. You get to meet new people and create new bonds that can one day lead to marriage.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to explore the world of dating. Selena Martin engaged in conversation with me about her 1 year anniversary on Valentine’s Day with her girlfriend Tammy, she met on campus.

Tonight I will be celebrating my 1 year anniversary with the love of my life. We will be going to Ruth Chris, exchanging gifts and going skating. Skateland USA is always popping on Fridays.”

Selena Martin- Public Relations Major.

There will be so many eventful moments and actions shown on Valentine’s Day. This day is to give and receive love from all. Where there is love surrounding you, positive energy and great vibes you can’t go wrong.

Martin stated, “Every day should be a day that you show your love for the people that matter the most in your life.”

Valentine’s Day is one of the many holidays we have that bring us as people together. It’s a time to laugh, play, be emotional but most of all it’s a day to show and receive appreciation from the people that mean the world to you and vice versa.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
